At Forex Brokers’ XM Group, a client can own multiple accounts.
There are cases where you are trying to log in to MT4, you can not login because MT4 shows invalid account.
1 of 4 things below might be the cause.
On Saturdays, Sundays or common holidays, you can not trade because Forex and CFD are closed. There are also cases where you cannot log into Mt4, for example, during the closing market hours of Saturdays, Sundays or year end and new year’s day.
For real account
Cause 1: wrong server number
“Server number" is sent to the email address you registered when opening the account and the if the server you choose is different from the registered one, you will not be able to log in.
You must definitely select the “server number" you registered when opening the account in the “Server" box at login.
Cause 2: Account not activated
To withdraw and trade, you need to upload your identification documents to XM Group and activate the account.
When the account is not activated, the account cannot be used to trade and will be displayed as “Invalid Account".
Cause 3: Logging in using the old MT4 app
XM’s MT4 app is upgraded version regularly. Old version of MT4 can not be used. The MT4 software update announcement from XM Group will be sent to users through email.
Cause 4: Wrong password
When opening your XM Group account, you need to use the password you set.
When you forget your password, you can contact XM Group support and you will be given a temporary password.
Cause 5: Account inactive within 90 days
XM Group automatically freezes unused accounts within 90 days. Please note that it will automatically freeze account even without notice
If the account is frozen with a zero balance, you can not log into that account and you need open an additional account if you want to continue trading.
If the account is frozen with a balance, the account will fall into hibernate mode. The maintenance charge applied to the hibernating account will be $ 5 per month from the 90th day. So, to avoid maintenance fee, you should trade with a small investment of 0.01 lot or deposit/withdraw.
For demo account (used for practice)
In the case of the demo account, the cause and the resolution are the same as the actual account above.
However, a demo account will be automatically blocked if not used more than 90 days since the last login.
If your account is blocked rather than frozen, you must register another demo account.
Open a new demo account, you can open an account from “Open demo account" on XM Group official website.
As such, you have completed opening an account.
You can log in to MT4 by using the login information you provided when you opened your account (Account, server number) and the password you set up.
